Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Data Management/Governance Expert to lead our data initiatives. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and maintain a robust data governance framework within a cloud-first environment, primarily using AWS/Azure. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across the organization. This will be a 6 months contract(not a permanent position) position with remote job.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and standards using industry best practices like the DCAM  model and DAMA-DMBOK2 principles.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle within AWS/Azure  cloud platforms (e.g., S3, EC2, RDS).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, legal, business units) to define data ownership, establish data stewardship roles, and manage access control protocols.
  • Develop and maintain metadata repositories and data catalogs, ensuring consistent understanding and definition of data assets across the enterprise.
  • Lead data governance initiatives and projects, conducting regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Serve as a key advisor on data-related initiatives, promoting data literacy and a data-driven culture through training and awareness programs.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • A related bachelor’s degree.
  • Over five years of experience in relevant fields such as data governance or management.
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)  certification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the DCAM  framework.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure  for data management is required.
