ASIC's Data & Analytics Technology team is seeking an experienced and highly capable Data Modeller to join their high performing team.

  • Sydney or Melbourne locations
  • 24-month fixed term position
  • Salary from $163,970 to $181,284 (depending on experience) + 15.4% superannuation

The team

ASIC's Digital, Data & Technology group delivers a broad suite of IT capabilities to support ASIC. We are currently driving major technology initiatives that will accelerate our transformation across key areas including virtualisation, data analytics, mobility, and cloud. The Data & Analytics Technology team underpins these efforts by providing essential services to our primary stakeholder, the Data & Analytics Office.

The role

As a Data Modeller you will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into clear, scalable data models across conceptual, logical and physical layers. These models will underpin analytics, reporting and operational processes. Collaborating closely with data engineers, analysts and business stakeholders the Data Modeller will ensure that data assets are well-structured, standardised and fully aligned with established governance and quality frameworks.

More Specifically, You Will

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models to support development and enhancements across ASIC's data infrastructure, including but not limited to data lakes, application databases, and BI/analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and application/solution teams to define requirements and document data transformations.
  • Conduct peer reviews of data models developed by team members and external suppliers to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to team objectives.
  • Work in a professional, positive and cooperative manner, modelling ASIC's core values of Accountability, Professionalism and Teamwork.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role is a data modelling professional who thrives on turning complex business challenges into elegant, scalable solutions. With deep expertise in data modelling tools and strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL technologies, you will bring both technical precision and strategic insight expertise. You will communicate with clarity, collaborate seamlessly across teams, while championing data governance and quality more broadly. Adaptable and values-driven, you will embody ASIC's principles of Accountability, Professionalism and Teamwork while delivering impactful outcomes.

In Addition, You Will Have

  • Proven ability to quickly interpret complex business requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models using industry-standard modelling tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with ERwin Data Modeller for designing and maintaining data models.
  • Strong experience with relational and data warehouse design techniques and modelling methodologies (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault 2.0, NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms and technologies (e.g. AWS, Databricks).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of established data management principles, frameworks, and technologies.
