Job Description

Role: Data Scientist

Location: Milan, Italy

Report to: Head of Data

Role

We are looking for a Data Scientist / Analytics Engineer to join AC Milan’s new Data team and help build the foundations of a modern, reliable data platform supporting the club’s core business and commercial functions.

This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics, with a strong focus on building robust data pipelines, trusted datasets and scalable infrastructure. You will work closely with commercial stakeholders (retail & e-commerce, digital & media, ticketing, sponsorships) to ensure data is trusted, accessible and actionable across the whole organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines. Design, deploy and maintain ETL/ELT jobs to ingest and transform data from internal sources and external APIs (e-commerce, ticketing, CRM, partners).
  • Support the migration of our data ecosystem and analytics workloads from a legacy SQL Server environment to a modern lakehouse structure, defining best practices for data modeling, performance, and scalability.
  • Develop clean, well-documented data models that power reporting, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis for commercial teams, ensuring consistency of KPIs and business logic.
  • Orchestrate and automate workflows to facilitate scheduled data ingestion, API integrations, and downstream transformations, with appropriate monitoring and alerting.
  • Ensure data quality and reliability by implementing testing, validation, and observability practices (unit tests, SLA checks, etc.) to ensure data accuracy and trust across the business.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and the broader data team to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and continuously improve how data is used in decision-making.

Experience & Skills Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Strong hands-on skills in SQL and Python, with experience building production-grade data pipelines.
  • Experience with dbt (or similar data transformation frameworks) and modern ELT practices.
  • Experience orchestrating workflows using Apache Airflow (or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake) and lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience working with relational databases and migrating legacy data systems.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, analytics engineering best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The job posting is open to all individuals, regardless of gender, age, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other personal characteristic, in compliance with the Italian Legislative Decree 1982006 and Law 1622021. The selection process will be conducted according to criteria of transparency, fairness, and inclusiveness.
