Database Administrator (DBA) – Database Security Research

About the Role:

SII Group India is hiring a Senior DBA / Database Security Research Specialist to support a strategic customer on a high-impact Database Activity Monitoring and Security initiative.

This role is ideal for a technically strong DBA who enjoys security research, vulnerability analysis, and policy design, and can operate independently as a subject-matter expert across enterprise database platforms.

What You’ll Do

Database Security Research

• Research database vulnerabilities, CVEs, patches, and new security features

• Analyze database commands and traffic patterns to identify attack vectors

• Develop attack signatures and proactive threat detection logic

• Produce vulnerability research and mitigation recommendations

Security Policy & Automation

• Design and implement real-time database security policies and controls

• Detect, alert, and mitigate database attacks and misconfigurations

• Build automation tools (Python / Go) to test and validate security controls

• Document detection logic, tools, and verification results

Compliance & Secure Configuration

• Ensure compliance with DISA, CIS benchmarks and regulations such as: PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOX, FISMA, GDPR

• Perform security assessments and define remediation plans

• Create secure configuration guides and internal knowledge documentation

Collaboration & Ownership

• Act as a technical authority for database security topics

• Work closely with internal engineering and security teams

• Own deliverables end-to-end with minimal supervision

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent

• Strong experience with RDBMS platforms: Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, DB2

• Deep knowledge of Linux environments

• Advanced SQL and query analysis skills

• Strong expertise in Regular Expressions (RegEx)

• Solid understanding of information security principles

• Experience working with REST APIs

• Basic exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with DISA / CIS security benchmarks

• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (PCI, SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, FISMA)

• Core DBA skills: performance tuning, backups, patching, auditing

• Programming/scripting experience with Python and/or Golang

• Shell scripting (Bash, Batch)

• Exposure to NoSQL / Big Data platforms (MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop)

• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
