We are seeking a highly skilled technical leader to head our DBA team. This role is focused on advanced technical responsibilities and team leadership and mentoring. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in multiple database platforms, performance optimization, and high-availability solutions, while guiding a small team toward operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Architect, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade databases across platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL).
  • Lead performance tuning initiatives: query optimization, index/partition strategies, and database parameter tuning.
  • Implement robust backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery plans using RMAN and other tools.
  • Manage high-availability solutions including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, replication, and failover mechanisms.
  • Ensure database security through encryption (TDE), auditing, and compliance with GDPR/HIPAA.
  • Oversee capacity planning, storage optimization, and SLA compliance.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and CloudOps teams for CI/CD integration and automation using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, standards, and operational procedures.

    • Leadership Responsibilities

  • Mentor and coach a team of DBAs, fostering technical growth and best practices.
  • Provide constructive feedback and career development guidance.
  • Coordinate workload distribution and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders on database health, incidents, and strategic initiatives.

    • Skills and Experience

  • Expert-level proficiency in at least two major database platforms (Relational: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and NoSQL like MongoDB, Redis).
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in database administration, with a proven track record of transformative leadership and collaborative excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, OCI).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

    • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with monitoring tools (New Relic, DataDog, SolarWinds).
  • Knowledge of SaaS architecture and security best practices.
