We are seeking an experienced DB2 Warehouse Administrator to support the implementation, migration, and ongoing operations of an enterprise data warehouse hosted on AWS. This role is responsible for administering IBM DB2 Warehouse in a cloud environment, supporting data migration from legacy or vendor-hosted platforms, and ensuring the performance, security, reliability, and scalability of the data warehouse platform.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on database administration experience, familiarity with AWS infrastructure, and the ability to collaborate closely with ETL, analytics, and engineering teams to support large-scale analytical workloads.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
DB2 Warehouse Administration & Operations
- Install, configure, and administer IBM DB2 Warehouse in an AWS environment
- Perform database provisioning, patching, upgrades, and configuration management
- Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance
- Proactively identify and resolve performance and stability issues
- Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Manage database security, user access, roles, and privileges in alignment with organizational security standards
- Support audit, logging, and compliance requirements as applicable
Data Migration & Platform Enablement
- Support data migration from legacy or vendor-hosted platforms into DB2 Warehouse on AWS
- Validate data loads, data integrity, and migration outcomes
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams during migration and cutover activities
- Assist in defining data standards, naming conventions, and warehouse best practices
ETL & Performance Optimization
- Partner closely with ETL and analytics teams (e.g., IBM DataStage, reporting tools)
- Optimize SQL, indexing strategies, partitioning, and workload management
- Tune batch and incremental loads, reporting queries, and analytical workloads
- Identify and resolve ETL-related performance bottlenecks
- Provide guidance on DB2 best practices for large-scale data warehouse environments
Operations & Maintenance
- Provide ongoing database operations and maintenance support
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Participate in change management, release planning, and operational readiness activities
- Create and maintain DBA runbooks, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation
- Support both production and non-production environments
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 8+ years of database administration experience supporting DB2, or 3+ years specifically with DB2 Warehouse
- Hands-on experience administering databases in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
- Strong SQL skills with demonstrated experience in performance tuning and optimization
- Experience supporting enterprise data warehouse or analytical database platforms
- Solid understanding of backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts
- Experience with IBM DB2 Warehouse on AWS
- Hands-on experience working with IBM DataStage and reporting or BI tools (e.g., Cognos or similar platforms)
- Experience supporting large-scale batch processing and reporting workloads
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
- AWS experience with services such as EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and core networking concepts
