Position Title: Dean / Associate Dean – Psychology
School: School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

1. Role Objective
The Associate Dean – Psychology at IILM University is responsible for supporting the Director/Dean in academic leadership, governance execution, quality assurance, and strategic implementation of teaching, research, student development initiatives and global experience in alignment with:
- UGC Regulations
- NEP 2020
- NAAC Quality Framework
- ILLM University’s Vision, Academic Ordinances, and Statutes
The role ensures that student engagement is high and degree experience, academic delivery and outcomes reflect IILM University’s commitment to experiential learning, research orientation, ethical practice, and student success.
Key Performance expectations remain student success indicators (retention, startup/innovation, placements, higher studies), Faculty performance, retention, and research output, NAAC / IQAC readiness and audit outcomes, Research publications, grants, and collaborations and academic quality improvement initiatives
2. Key Roles & Responsibilities
A. Academic Governance & Program Oversight
- Support implementation of academic policies approved by the AC and Bo S.
- Preparing the department on UGC compliance, NEP implementation, ensuring Outcome-Based Education (OBE).
- Develop a culture of high academic standards across UG, PG, and doctoral programs.
B. Faculty Leadership & Academic Capacity Building
- Support the Director in faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and responsibility.
- Guide faculty on structures, systems and policies for academic and institutional performance.
- Assist in identifying high-potential faculty for leadership roles and succession planning.
C. Research, Innovation & Knowledge Creation
- Promote a research-driven culture aligned with research policy and accreditation standards.
- Engage in capacity building and mentoring faculty in research and publications.
- Support development of funded research proposals, consultancy projects, and academic collaborations.
- Ensure ethical compliance in research through institutional review mechanisms.
D. Quality Assurance, NAAC & IQAC Support
- Coordination with IQAC and documentation for for NAAC, NIRF, and internal audits.
- Support preparation of SSR inputs, AQAR data, academic metrics, and quality reports.
- Ensure systematic documentation of best practices, innovations, and outcomes.
- Participate in academic audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
E. Student Academic Experience & Outcomes
- Develop and monitor student academic engagement, experience and performance.
- Initiatives related to internships, practicum, field engagement, and applied learning.
- Address academic grievances and feedback through institutional mechanisms.
- Encourage student research, conference participation, and higher education pathways.
F. Institutional & Strategic Contributions
- Assist the Director/Dean in academic planning, resource utilization, and budget inputs.
- Coordinate with Admissions, Examination, Placements, and Student Affairs on needs.
- Represent the School in university committees, task forces, and external academic forums, global forums when delegated.
- Contribute to institutional branding, rankings, and academic outreach initiatives.
3. Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Ph. D. in Psychology / Applied Psychology / Behavioral Sciences
- Strong academic record as per UGC norms
Experience and competencies
- Minimum 12-15 years of teaching and/or research experience in higher education
- Experience in academic coordination, program leadership, or departmental administration preferred
- Exposure to accreditation, curriculum design, or institutional governance desirable
- Academic leadership and governance orientation
- Strong knowledge of UGC, NAAC, NEP 2020, OBE frameworks
- Research mentoring and academic writing capability
- Stakeholder communication and decision-making ability
4. Authority & Accountability
- Academic decisions as delegated by the Director and Academic Council
- Faculty mentoring and performance inputs
- Curriculum, assessment, and quality improvement recommendations
- Compliance with IILM University statutes, ordinances, and academic regulations
