Experience

10 to 15 years of progressive experience in academia, research, industry, or a combination thereof, with significant leadership exposure in Artificial Intelligence or related domains.

Education

• Bachelor’s/master’s/PhD degree (B.tech/B.E./ M.E/M.Tech / BCA/ MCA/Bsc Comp/ Msc Comp)
• Additional certifications in AI, leadership, or academic administration will be an added advantage

Role Summary

The Dean – Centre of Artificial Intelligence will provide academic, strategic, and operational leadership to establish and grow the Centre of Artificial Intelligence as a hub of excellence in education, research, innovation, and industry collaboration. The role demands a visionary leader capable of shaping AI-driven academic programs, fostering cutting-edge research, building strong industry and global partnerships, and mentoring faculty and students to address real-world challenges using AI technologies. The Dean will report to the Vice-Chancellor / Pro Vice-Chancellor and will work in coordination with Academic Deans, Research Dean, statutory bodies such as the Academic Council, Research Council, and Boards of Studies. The role carries academic and strategic leadership authority with defined recommendation and approval responsibilities as per university norms.

Roles and Responsibilities

Academic & Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the vision, mission, and long-term strategy of the Centre of Artificial Intelligence
• Design, review, and continuously enhance AI-focused academic programs, curricula, and certifications aligned with global standards and emerging trends
• Ensure academic excellence, accreditation compliance, and quality assurance across all AI programs
• Provide leadership in faculty recruitment, mentoring, performance enhancement, and interdisciplinary capacity building for AI programs across schools.

Research & Innovation

• Lead and promote advanced research initiatives in AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Robotics, and allied areas
• Promote responsible and ethical AI research, addressing issues of data privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, and societal impact. Guide faculty and research scholars in funded projects, publications, patents, and technology transfer initiatives.

Industry & External Engagement

• Build strong partnerships with industry, startups, research labs, and global universities
• Facilitate internships, live projects, joint research, and technology transfer opportunities
• Represent the Centre at conferences, academic forums, industry panels, and advisory boards

Student Engagement & Outcomes

• Guide students in academic progression, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship
• Support student-led startups, AI labs, hackathons, and innovation challenges
• Ensure strong placement outcomes and career pathways for graduates
• Designing AI programs across all schools in the university as per the current trend.

Governance & Administration

• Oversee budgeting, resource planning, infrastructure development, and operational efficiency
• Ensure adherence to institutional policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
• Prepare strategic reports, performance metrics, and presentations for senior leadership

Working Conditions

• Full-time senior leadership role based at the University campus
• Standard academic working hours with flexibility based on academic, research, and administrative needs
• Occasional travel is required for conferences, industry meetings, collaborations, and academic events

The performance of the Dean- Centre of Artificial Intelligence shall be reviewed against defined academic, research, industry, and student outcome benchmarks.
