Deck Cadet-Container Cargo

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Officer of the Watch (OOW) in navigation and bridge duties, including plotting courses, using navigational equipment (radar, ECDIS, GPS), and maintaining accurate bridge logs and records.
• Actively participate in watchkeeping, maintaining a vigilant lookout for potential hazards and other vessels.
• Learn and assist in container cargo operations, including loading, unloading, stowage planning, securing cargo, and monitoring stowage conditions.
• Assist in mooring and unmooring operations, handling ropes, wires, and related equipment.
• Participate in routine deck maintenance tasks such as chipping, painting, greasing, and general upkeep of deck areas and equipment.
• Familiarize with and assist in the maintenance and testing of life-saving appliances (LSA) and firefighting appliances (FFA).
