Our client is seeking a highly skilled DeltaV Engineer to design, configure, and implement advanced Emerson DeltaV automation solutions for clients in the Life Sciences sector. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong DeltaV batch experience, deep understanding of regulated manufacturing environments, and the ability to support full project lifecycles including FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning.

You will work onsite in Kalamazoo while supporting projects nationwide, contributing to automation systems that directly impact biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Conduct FAT/SAT, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Deliver high‑quality documentation, technical reports, and project deliverables.
  • Develop and program ISA‑88 batch processes and DeltaV Batch configurations.
  • Engineer system architecture, control strategies, and instrument specifications.
  • Configure DeltaV controllers, HMI, historian, alarms, and related applications.
  • Design, configure, and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems in alignment with project requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Life Sciences clients to gather requirements and translate them into technical automation solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with GAMP5, cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and validation lifecycle documentation.
  • Support system integration with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, HART)
  • Work cross‑functionally with process, electrical, validation, and project engineering teams.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with PLC systems in addition to DeltaV.
  • Strong knowledge of GAMP5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Strong proficiency with ISA‑88 batch processing and DeltaV Batch.
  • Stable work history with consistent experience in automation/controls roles.
  • Hands‑on experience with FAT/SAT, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, HART)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex automation projects.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% and work extended hours/weekends as needed.
  • Experience in Life Sciences, Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with Emerson DeltaV (design, configuration, implementation)

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior mentoring or leadership of junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking (controllers, servers, HMIs)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical design principles.
  • Experience with loop tuning and process control optimization.
  • Experience translating functional requirements into detailed software design.
  • Exposure to Rockwell Automation, Siemens PCS7, or other DCS/SCADA platforms.
  • Background supporting mission‑critical or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with historian systems, alarm management, and advanced control strategies.
