Job Summary:
The Deputy Editor/ Online Editor plays a key role in overseeing the editorial process, ensuring high-quality content production, and supporting the team in managing the publication’s voice, accuracy, and timeliness. This role involves editing and proofreading content, coordinating with writers and contributors, managing deadlines, and assisting in editorial strategy and planning. The ideal candidate has strong editorial judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in setting editorial direction and content strategy. Edit, proofread, and fact-check articles for clarity, accuracy, and consistency with the publication’s style. Manage editorial workflows, ensuring deadlines are met and content meets quality standards. Supervise and mentor junior editors, writers, and freelancers. Collaborate with design, SEO, and digital teams to optimize content for engagement and reach. Handle sensitive or complex editorial decisions in the absence of the Editor-in-Chief.
