Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Emission Compliance & Certification
- Responsible for emission compliance and certification, including Domestic Conformity of Production (COP) testing of off-road industrial engines across multiple Yanmar product segments.
- Ensure continuous compliance with applicable emission regulations, certification requirements, and compliance methodologies (India and export markets, as applicable).
- Stay updated on latest emission norms, test procedures, amendments, and regulatory interpretations, and proactively communicate changes to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain effective working relationships with test authorities, certification agencies, and regulatory bodies.
Engine Testing & Certification
- Plan and manage new model engine testing for development, validation, and type approval, from initial planning through execution and monitoring.
- Prepare and submit technical documentation for testing and certification to testing authorities (TA).
- Coordinate with testing agencies to finalize test schedules, witness testing, and certification timelines.
- Conduct and witness engine tests as per approved test procedures, standards, and emission regulations.
- Analyse test results, identify gaps, and prepare technical reports and compliance summaries.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Conformity of Production (COP) activities, including:
o Preparation and submission of annual COP plans
o COP documentation and sample selection
o Coordination with testing agencies for COP testing and closure
- Coordinate cross-functionally with design, application, performance, manufacturing, and logistics teams for certification readiness.
- Manage engine and vehicle logistics, including transportation to/from warehouses and testing agencies.
- Ensure engine build, mounting, instrumentation, and calibration readiness prior to testing.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and support rectification of engine issues prior to certification testing.
- Verify engine parts post-testing, manage teardown activities, and secure test reports and certificates.
- Conduct or coordinate engine endurance and durability testing related to regulatory and certification requirements (e.g., CIFT, SFMRTTI, ARAI, ICAT).
Homologation & Regulatory Support
- Ensure complete homologation readiness, including engine, mounting, and application compliance prior to authority testing.
- Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to product planning, design, performance, and application engineering teams.
- Support emission durability requirements, in-use emission compliance, and field performance verification activities.
- Coordinate and perform in-use emission testing, ensuring products in the field meet legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
- Secure, maintain, renew, and manage engine emission certificates and approval documentation.
- Support certification and witness testing in the presence of regulatory authorities.
Chemical Compliance & Material Regulations (Ro HS, REACH, Others)
- Ensure compliance with Ro HS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) requirements for engines, components, and associated systems, as applicable.
- Coordinate chemical and material analysis testing for regulated substances (e.g., lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, and other applicable substances).
- Support compliance with REACH, ELV, and other applicable chemical and material regulations, based on product and market requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers, internal quality teams, and external laboratories for material declarations, test reports, and compliance evidence.
- Maintain accurate chemical compliance documentation, traceability records, and audit readiness for regulatory reviews.
BIS & Indian Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) requirements relevant to industrial engines, components, and applications.
- Coordinate BIS testing, documentation, audits, and certification activities, including product registration and renewals.
- Act as the single point of contact for BIS-related technical clarifications, inspections, and authority interactions.
- Monitor updates to Indian standards, notifications, and regulatory changes, and assess impact on existing and future products.
- Support internal teams to ensure design, manufacturing, and quality processes align with BIS compliance requirements.
Peer / Competition Benchmarking
- Conduct peer and competitor benchmarking on emission compliance, certification practices, COP, chemical compliance, and BIS requirements to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Provide benchmark-driven inputs on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor readiness to support strategic and technology decisions.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Previous emission testing experience is required
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Education - B. Tech/B. E
- Experience - Similar working experience for 10-15 Years, in Diesel Engines companies
