Deputy Manager Proto Quality

Deputy Manager – Proto Quality is responsible for ensuring the quality of prototype parts, assemblies, and processes during early development stages. The role bridges design review, prototype manufacturing, suppliers development, and quality teams to ensure that new products meet specifications, reliability standards, and customer expectations before moving to mass production.

Key Responsibilities :-

Prototype Quality Management
1. Lead quality inspections for prototype components and assemblies.
2. Verify dimensional, functional, and material compliance against drawings and specifications.
3. Ensure supplier & first built reports FAI-level documentation for proto builds wherever applicable.
4. Track and control defects found during prototype evaluations.
5. Coordinate with design,Engineering,suppliers, proto shop, and process engineering teams.
7. Work with suppliers for proto part readiness, quality checks, and corrective actions.
8. Ensure & provide customer-specific prototype quality requirements.
9. Monitor defect trends and drive continuous improvement.

Quality Systems & Standards
1. Maintain quality standards based on ISO/TS/IATF 16949. 
2. Develop and execute inspection standards, control plans, check sheets, and work instructions for proto builds.
3. Ensure calibration and correct use of measuring instruments (CMM, height gauge, microscopes, etc.).
4. Participate in DFMEA & PFMEA, and design reviews to provide quality inputs early.
5. Conduct root‑cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D, etc.
6. Implement and verify corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)

Reporting & Documentation

Education : Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or related engineering discipline.
Exposure to NPD (New Product Development) is an added advantage.

Experience : 6–8 years of experience in quality or prototyping roles.

Key Skills :

1. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and measurement techniques.
2. Knowledge of APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D(depending on industry).
3. Experience with prototype manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, 3D printing, molding, etc.).
4. Analytical mindset, problem-solving tools, and attention to detail.
5. Ability to coordinate across multiple departments and manage strict timelines.
6. Good communication and reporting skills.
