Job Description 

We are searching for a dependable graduate engineer to join our capable team. The graduate engineer will be responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Senior Engineer/Manager, assisting other engineers with projects, conducting research, and writing reports. You should be able to follow instructions but also take initiative and come up with original ideas.

To be successful as a design engineer, you should have a growth mindset and a commitment to lifelong learning. Outstanding candidates should be highly observant, willing to assist wherever possible, and eager to readily engage with Engineers outside of their area of specialization.

Design Engineer Responsibilities:

• Understanding project requirements and completing all duties assigned by the Senior Engineer/Manager.
• Shadowing senior staff members, asking questions, and assisting wherever possible.
• Raising concerns and making suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
• Conducting research and traveling to sites.
• Observing health and safety regulations at all times.
• Participating in meetings and attending workshops and other training initiatives.
• Analysing data and writing reports according to specifications.
• Take notes and share your findings with your Senior Engineer/Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
• Establishing professional relationships with staff.
• Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and diligence.
• Design calculations for equipment such as Switchgear, CT/VT/DC Systems/ Power Transformers/ Generator Sizing/ Earthing Design/Load Flow/Short Circuits/Voltage Drop/ Relay setting calculation/Harmonics Analysis/Control.
• Power & Control Cable Schedule preparation/ Scheme & Control Drawing preparation etc.
• Single line Diagram / Interlocking drawing etc. preparation.
• Lightning Arrester Design calculation.
• Equipment Layout preparation in coordination with Civil /Mechanical/Fire Fighting Team.
• Fault troubleshooting and RCA report preparation.
• Coordination with client.

Design Engineer Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering discipline is a minimum requirement. However, priority will be given to those who have Master’s degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering discipline.
• Previous experience in a technical field would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Superb time management and professionalism.
• Knowledge of Design calculation software such as ASPEN, SINCAL, CTDIm, ETAP, CYME, SKM, & Transient Fault Analysis.
• AutoCAD.
• Protection IED’s Software knowledge.
• Manual Calculation using MS Office.
• DC /AC System Design knowledge.
• Design knowledge of all equipment such as switchgear, Power/Auxiliary Transformers, Generator, DC Systems, Cable, Over Head Line, CT/VT, Generator/NER etc.
• Knowledge of programming languages is an additional advantage.
• Load flow/Short circuit calculation.
• Knowledge of relays, Substation Control and Monitoring System & Fault Monitoring System.
• Knowledge of International Standards such as IEC, IEEE, BS etc.
• Knowledge in Cyber Security & IEC 61850.
• Membership with IET/IEEE is an additional advantage.
• A growth mindset and willingness to accept criticism.
• A valid driver’s license is an additional advantage.
