Development Manager - Italy (Remote, Centre-South Region)
Company Overview:
Our client is a leading renewable energy company specialising in Solar PV and energy storage (BESS) projects. With an established presence across Europe, they entered the Italian market recently and have already acquired projects across the country. As they further expand their footprint in Italy, they are seeking a highly experienced Development Manager to oversee project development and support future growth. Role Overview:
The Development Manager will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and securing energy storage and PV project opportunities across Italy. This is initially a fully remote position, with a preference on candidates based in the Centre-South regions (Rome, Naples, etc...), and the successful candidate will be instrumental in establishing a local office, contributing to the company’s long-term presence in Italy. Key Responsibilities:
•Project Identification & Development:
oIdentify potential sites for energy storage and PV projects.
oAssess site viability, including environmental conditions, grid access, and regulatory compliance.
oPrepare proposals for site acquisitions (lease/purchase) and support grid connection applications.
•Permitting & Land Rights:
oWork closely with internal teams to secure necessary permits, including environmental and building permits.
oEngage with technical partners and TSOs for grid connection certification.
•Negotiation & Acquisition:
oSupport negotiations with landowners for project development.
oIdentify and introduce potential M&A opportunities for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
oAssist in due diligence and acquisition processes.
•Stakeholder Engagement & Representation:
oRepresent the company in meetings with local authorities, communities, and grid operators.
oDevelop relationships with key business partners and service providers to support development activities.
•Project & Market Expansion:
oCoordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
oSupport the company’s long-term expansion strategy, including the establishment of an Italian office and hiring additional team members in the near future. Requirements:
•Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy project development, ideally with a major energy company.
•Strong expertise in solar PV project development is essential; BESS experience is a plus.
•Proven track record across the full project lifecycle, from site identification to permitting and execution.
•Experience negotiating land agreements, securing permits, and liaising with grid operators.
•Strong network within the Italian renewable energy sector.
•Ability to work independently in a remote environment and drive the company’s growth in Italy. Benefits:
