Development Tools Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the next generation of debug tools used by Intel’s validation community and by both internal and external customers. The tools you develop will play a critical role in silicon architecture debug and validation, supporting the successful launch of Intel silicon products across every market segment—from client devices to servers.

You will be part of a dynamic team that partners closely with Intel Validation Engineering (iVE) customers, making strong communication and collaboration skills essential.

• Learn and adapt to new silicon debug and validation features.
• Develop and enhance debug tool software products that leverage Intel’s latest silicon debug capabilities.
• Debug and resolve software errata.
• Perform developer‑owned validation, create functional documentation, and support tool users.
• Assist customers in using the tools, including root‑causing issues that arise during silicon power‑on events.
• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers on best practices and technical solutions.

• Expertise in software engineering best practices, including design, development, testing, and maintenance.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of and interest in Intel Architecture, silicon debug, and low‑level hardware/software interactions.

Our debug solutions combine software and hardware components and commonly include:

• JTAG debug tools
• Validation content execution
• Manufacturing test infrastructure

These tools are essential in the production process for nearly every Intel silicon product and are widely used by internal product teams as well as major technology customers outside of Intel.

• Work effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
• Willingness to mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and professionally.
• Experience working with stakeholders on the requirement elicitation process.

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in:
  • Object oriented software development and debug.
  • At least one of these languages: Python, C, C++
• 4 years experience in:
  • Linux distributions.
  • Git/GitHub.
  • Agile processes such as scrum and kanban.
• Advanced English level.
• Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Mexico

• Familiarity with JTAG, I3C, SMBus or silicon TAP topology.
• Experience using Simulation frameworks.
• Experience working with Silicon Validation teams.
• Hardware-software integration debug.
