Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Gastroenterology Dietitian to join the Dietetics team.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity to join the team at Northern Health as a Grade 4 Gastroenterology Dietitian is now available.
This role requires extensive expertise and knowledge in the specialist area of gastroenterology specifically IBD, functional GI disorders and Coeliac disease. You will be responsible for providing expert dietetic advice and management of outpatient attending the following specialty gastroenterology clinics:
- Gastroenterology Screening Clinic (requires advance practice credentialing to work in an extended scope of practice)
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic
- Disorders of the Gut-Brain Interaction (DGBI) Clinic and act as a resource regarding evidence based dietary management of patients within their area of expertise.
A job-share arrangement to target particular clinical specialties will be considered.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated clinical expertise with a minimum 10 years’ experience as a Dietitian and 4 years within gastroenterology services
- Possess high level skills and extensive knowledge in the area of gastroenterology including the range of therapeutic diets required for the management of gastrointestinal conditions (IBD, liver disease, disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) and Coeliac disease), identification of red flags and the identification of potential patients requiring interventions by a gastroenterologist
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and an ability to network and draw on external expertise within the area of dietary management within gastroenterology
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately identify when to seek assistance and/or guidance.
- Demonstrated initiative and able to independently solve problems in potentially stressful situations.
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and problem-solving capacity.
- Well-developed leadership, negotiation and teamwork skills to enhance working relationships within the department and across services at Northern Health.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
- High level planning, organisational and communication skills to ensure the implementation of sustainable changes across a range of programs and sites.
