Director- Manufacturing Sourcing & Supplier Management

Location: Chennai, India (preferred) | Edison, USA (open)

Role Summary

Own end-to-end manufacturing sourcing and supplier control for hardware and IoT products manufactured through ODM / EMS partners, primarily in China. Responsible for cost, quality, delivery, and supplier governance from pilot to scale.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, select, and manage ODM / EMS and key component suppliers
• Own BOM cost targets, landed cost targets, tooling and NRE budgets
• Drive cost-down and savings programs post-pilot
• Negotiate pricing, MOQs, payment terms, SLAs, and penalties
• Own supplier quality, delivery, and scale readiness
• Drive EVT, DVT, and PVT readiness from sourcing and quality perspective
• Conduct factory audits and handle supplier escalations
• Ensure company ownership of schematics, PCB files, firmware, test specs, and tooling
• Provide regular reporting on cost, savings, quality, and delivery performance

Qualification Requirements

• Advanced degree in Engineering or related Business domain
• 10–18 years experience in manufacturing sourcing / procurement / supplier quality, specifically in Electronics, IOT, Consumer or rugged industrial devices
• Hands-on experience with China ODM / EMS (Shenzhen / Dongguan / Jiangsu)
• Proven track record delivering cost savings and managing supplier quality at scale
• Strong negotiation skills (pricing, MOQs, SLAs, penalties)
• Solid understanding of electronics manufacturing (PCBA, assembly, test, yield)
• Mandarin language capability is a strong advantage; Cantonese is a plus but not required
• Experience working with suppliers in Taiwan and/or Southeast Asia (e.g., Malaysia, Vietnam) is a strong advantage
• Willingness to travel to supplier locations in China, Taiwan, Malaysia as required
