Job Summary

Macdonald & Company is proudly partnered with a global Data Center development group who have seen consistent growth in recent years and have a need to appoint a Director of Data Center Projects within their global team.

Reporting to the SVP of Global Delivery, the Director will be responsible for forumlating strategies and refining the entire development & construction process from pre-construction through to completion. 

The Position
  • Oversee the safe and comprehensive delivery of global data center development & construction projects, including site feasibility assessments, external approvals, infrastructure delivery, and cost estimation.
  • Develop and implement selection processes for general contractors (GC), mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contractors, and consultants, alongside risk assessments and ongoing project supervision.
  • Collaborate with other departmental leaders and the Global Data Center Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Head to ensure Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance.
  • Strategize long-term team expansion, incorporating both permanent and consulting positions in accordance with company timelines.
  • Contribute to the development of Data Center design standards, offering insights through cost, schedule, and constructability evaluations.
  • Establish and manage project-level and local operating budgets in coordination with relevant departmental heads.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance delivery performance, focusing on factors such as on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
    • Target Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of data center experience
  • Knowledge of technical due diligence during equipment selection and asset acquisitions is advantageous
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and communication skills within global cross-functional teams
  • Adaptable to fast-paced and evolving environments
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
