About the Role:

A high-growth SaaS product company is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead, scale, and drive innovation in building highly scalable, distributed backend systems. This is a leadership role for someone with deep expertise in Java, microservices, high-concurrency systems, and cloud-native architectures, who has successfully scaled teams from 10 to 100+ and built high-performance, fault-tolerant platforms in eCommerce or high-scale product companies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the engineering roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability.
• Architect, develop, and optimize high-scale distributed systems for high-concurrency, low-latency, and real-time processing.
• Lead the design and implementation of microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Champion best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
• Scale, mentor, and manage a team of 50+ engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and ownership.
• Collaborate with product, business, and leadership teams to align technology with business growth.

Ideal Candidate:

• 12-16 years of experience in scaling engineering teams in high-growth product companies (eCommerce experience preferred).
• Proven track record in building distributed systems, microservices, and high-scale architectures.
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Distributed Systems, High-Concurrency Architectures.
• Deep experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch.
• Strong leadership in scaling teams from 10 to 100+ engineers.
• Ability to solve complex system design challenges and drive technical excellence.
