Job Description – Head, QC & Testing & Commissioning (for AI Data Center Projects)
Entity: HyperVault AI Data Center Ltd.
Location: Mumbai (HQ) + Pan‑India site mobility
Span of Control: QC, T&C, MEP, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Controls, Network/Security, OEM coordination, Operational Readiness
1. Role Purpose
The Head – QC & Testing & Commissioning is the overall technical authority accountable for the quality, reliability, and availability of the AI Data Center during its Build → Commission → Integrate → Operate lifecycle.
This includes monitoring & Ensuring
- Quality of Design / engineering,
- construction quality for civil & structural works, Architectural finishes and Interior fitouts
- Sub-contractors / Suppliers Quality (supply materials / installation),
- Equipment certifications, Compliances to statutory / local codes, governing applicable standards, Internal / customer work methods / processes, associated documentation
- Five levels of Testing & Commissioning (from Factory witness testing at OEM works to Integrated System Testing (IST)),
- Cyber‑physical infrastructure validation, and Day‑0/Day‑1 readiness for high‑density AI workloads.
This role facilitates compliance of every subsystem—power, cooling, electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, network, security, automation / energy monitoring, cyber systems, to the laid out customer specifications and / or applicable codes / standards, statutory requirements, ensuring delivery of defect‑free, tested, integrated, safe, and resilient systems
2. Key Responsibilities
A. End‑to‑End Quality Governance (Construction, Design & Engineering)
- Establish enterprise-wide Quality Management System (QMS), inspection/test plans (ITPs), and acceptance criteria across:
- Civil & structural
- MEP installations
- High‑voltage & low‑voltage systems
- Mechanical & cooling systems
- Rack/pod fit‑outs
- Validate detailed engineering, shop drawings, OEM documentation, BOQs, and specification sheets through Design QC reviews.
B. Review and confirmation of Sub-contractor / GC & OEM Quality Compliance
- Drive factory-level quality assurance: FAT, QA seals, certifications for transformers, switchgear, UPS, BESS, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, pumps, PDUs, busways, racks, security systems, and network equipment.
- Ensure adherence to the required GC / Sub contractor compliance to specifications / codal provisions / standards for civil & structural works, architectural fit outs, finishes and MEPF supplies / installations in their scope of works including the commissioning deliverables, test scripts, and warranty conditions.
C. Testing & Commissioning Framework (All Systems)
Lead complete testing and commissioning lifecycle for the DC built from FWT to IST including: Factory witness testing, Installation compliance, startup testing including all automations & energy monitoring parameters verification, system performance testing (Sequence of Operation test) and overall integrated system level testing (failure scenarios, overall PUE, Reliability, resilience and availability), fire IST.
D. HV Power Infrastructure Quality / performance testing
- Ensure power system stability under full load, step load, and failover.
F. Network, Security & Cyber‑Physical Infrastructure Validation
G. Fire Detection & Life Safety (FDLS), DCIM, BMS/EPMS
- Ensure FDLS systems comply with global standards, sequencing, cross‑system logic, interlocks.
- Validate BMS/EPMS/automation – for accuracy and precision of measured parameters and automation logic as per SOO.
H. Operational Readiness & Handover
- Create Day‑0, Day‑1, Day‑30 readiness matrices including:
- SOPs, EOPs, MOPs
- OEM training & handover documentation
- Spare‑part lists & warranty details
- Site acceptance and facility readiness scoring
- Conduct final readiness audits and sign‑off for live operations.
I. Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Drive T&C governance with EPC, OEMs, design engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and AI infra teams.
- Publish quality dashboards, commissioning scorecards, and risk heatmaps for leadership.
J. Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead a team of QC managers, commissioning engineers, system integrators, and automation specialists.
- Drive competency uplift, certification, and commissioning discipline maturity.
3. Must‑Have Skills
- Hands on experience of handling a Quality system for ship building, large manufacturing facility such as semiconductors, electronic goods manufacturing, pharma, solar modules etc, Multispecialty hospitals, Hyperscale or colo DC build 5 level Testing and commissioning.
- Certification / knowledge of NDT testing such as UT/ RT / DPT etc.
- Strong command of standards: ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO 9001/45001, IEEE, IGBC/LEED, TIA – 942, relevant IS /BS / ASTM / API standards and major OEM commissioning practices.
- Understanding of prevalent codes and standards for Civil, structural and architectural
4. Good‑to‑Have Skills
- Exposure to hyperscale commissioning frameworks (Google/MS/AWS/Meta).
- QA / QC requirements for PEB, Pre Cast, Pre fab Structures, DfMA (Design for modular assemblies)
- High level understanding of liquid cooling, immersion cooling, AI rack thermal management.
5. Qualifications
- BE/B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (M.Tech preferred).
- Certifications: Data Center commissioning, NDT, PMP, ISO Lead Auditor, NFPA, OEM‑specific commissioning certifications.
6. Experience Required
- 15–25 years across data center /mission critical facilities / industrial mega‑projects.
- At least 5 years leading end‑to‑end commissioning / quality function for Tier III/Tier IV / hyperscale / colo environments.

- Commissioning On‑Time Delivery (OTD %)
- Zero‑Defect Handover Score
- Minimal cost of poor quality
- IST Pass Rate & Redundancy Test Success
- Punch‑list closure efficiency
- Operational readiness scoring (Day‑0/Day‑1)
