Job Description
We are searching for an exceptional, hands-on Door Machine Operator / Door Shop Lead to support prehung door production for a growing building materials operation. The Door Machine Operator will be responsible for running and adjusting door production equipment, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency while meeting production schedules. Experience with prehung doors, millwork, or wood manufacturing is highly valued.
To be successful in this role, you should be mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment. A top-notch Door Machine Operator will take ownership of quality, proactively identify issues, and contribute to continuous improvement as production ramps up.
Responsibilities:
Operating and setting up door production equipment for prehung doors, slabs, jambs, hinges, strikes, and hardware prep.
Reading and interpreting work orders, cut sheets, and production schedules.
Adjusting machinery for different door sizes, specifications, and hardware requirements.
Monitoring product quality and ensuring accuracy throughout the production process.
Troubleshooting basic mechanical or production issues as they arise.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Collaborating with team members to improve workflow and efficiency.
(For lead-level candidates) Assisting with training and day-to-day coordination of door shop operations.
Following all company safety procedures and industry best practices.
Door Machine Operator / Door Shop Lead Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in prehung doors, door shops, millwork, or wood manufacturing.
Hands-on experience operating production equipment or CNC-style machinery.
Ability to measure accurately and work with wood products and hardware.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Dependable, safety-minded, and organized.
Preferred, but not required:
Experience with Norfield or similar door manufacturing equipment.
Lead, trainer, or supervisory experience in a shop environment.
