Job Description


We're hiring a CAD Joinery Designer / Drafter for our design department in Seattle, WA. This position involves creating the 3D digital models and 2D drawings.




Daily Responsibilities:

  • Create production-ready joinery digital 3D models along with construction drawings including elevations, plan views, and sections.

  • Develop construction drawings and models from the Designer and or department lead concept models, sketches, instructions, and or guidance drawings.

  • Gather design information in order to meet construction drawing development and schedule.

  • As instructed by department leads and yard management incorporate regulatory, specification, and class requirements for all affected joinery construction details.

  • Work with engineering and shop leads regarding the integration of the yachts joinery/interior with the ship's systems and structural design.

  • Work drawing review markups into ready-for-release construction drawings.

  • Stay current with pertinent shop techniques and preferred building processes and building material preferences.

  • Help in the ongoing effort to maintain and update joinery design standards.

  • Assist in maintaining the joinery construction drawings digital models and 2D drawings files to ensure current versions are available.

  • Stay focused, maintain patience, and be a team player. Maintaining a positive attitude in this role is key

  • Take an engaged interest in new technologies, methods, and materials as requested by department leads.

  • Help in the development and upkeep of the drawing material spreadsheets including integration and call-outs for the following. Appliances, hardware, woods, veneers, stones, paint, varnish, plumbing, and lighting fixtures.

  • Help maintain production schedules as it pertains

  • Perform similar or related duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • 5 years of 3D and 2D CAD experience in joinery/cabinetry construction drawing development.

  • Preferred CAD experience in 3D Autodesk Inventor, 3D woodwork for Inventor, and 2D Autodesk AutoCAD. 3D Rhino and Siemens Solid Edge experience is a plus.

  • Strong working knowledge of cabinet construction required, preferable Marine related.

  • Good communication skills, well organized and detail-oriented.

  • Be efficient, dependable, and ethical.

  • CNC knowledge is a plus, but not required

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles is a plus.
