Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and mature Driver Supervisor to lead, recruit, train, and manage truck drivers across our transport operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring driver discipline, safety compliance, on-time delivery performance, and professional conduct while maintaining high operational standards.


This role requires a hands-on leader with strong people management skills and deep knowledge of commercial trucking operations.


Tasks



  • Recruit qualified and experienced truck drivers in line with company standards.

  • Conduct driver background checks, license verification, and reference screening.

  • Coordinate driver onboarding, documentation, and orientation processes.

  • Maintain a database of approved and standby drivers.

  • Design and deliver driver training programs covering road safety, company policies, customer service, and cargo handling procedures.

  • Conduct refresher training and toolbox talks on defensive driving and operational best practices.

  • Ensure drivers understand and comply with transport regulations and company SOPs.

  • Assign drivers to trips and monitor attendance, punctuality, and trip readiness.

  • Enforce discipline and company operational standards.

  • Monitor driver performance and behavior on duty.

  • Handle driver grievances, disputes, and performance issues professionally.

  • Ensure full compliance with road safety regulations, DVLA requirements, and company transport policies.

  • Monitor accident records, violations, and incident reports.

  • Implement corrective actions to reduce accidents and safety risks.

  • Conduct routine driver safety briefings and audits.

  • Work closely with dispatch and fleet teams to ensure smooth trip execution.

  • Monitor delivery timelines and driver adherence to assigned routes.

  • Support breakdown management and emergency response coordination.

  • Track driver KPIs including punctuality, fuel efficiency, accident records, and delivery performance.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly driver performance reports.

  • Recommend rewards, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.


Requirements



  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in trucking, fleet operations, or driver supervision roles.

  • Proven experience recruiting, training, and managing commercial truck drivers.

  • Strong understanding of Ghana road transport regulations and safety standards.
