About the Role:

At Oowlish, we help growing brands turn Shopify into a true e-commerce growth engine—not just a storefront. As we evolve from execution-focused delivery to long-term strategic partnership, we're looking for an E-Commerce (Shopify) Practice Lead  to own and scale our Shopify practice.

This is not a hands-on development role . While technical Shopify knowledge is important to guide decisions and ensure quality, the core of this position is e-commerce consulting, strategy, and client ownership . You will act as the main point of contact for Shopify clients, deeply understanding their business, customers, and goals, and proactively diagnosing opportunities to improve conversion rate, AOV, UX/UI, SEO, promotions, and overall store performance.

You'll work closely with developers and designers by setting priorities, defining scope, and ensuring high-quality delivery—without being responsible for writing code or implementing features yourself . Your role is to translate business objectives into clear, actionable roadmaps and guide execution through the team, ensuring that work delivered has measurable business impact.

In addition, this role has a strong commercial and growth component . You will identify upsell and expansion opportunities within existing accounts, contribute to new proposals and pre-sales conversations, and help position Shopify as a long-term growth partner for clients. This position is ideal for someone who thinks like a business owner, communicates confidently with stakeholders, and knows how to balance strategy, delivery, and revenue growth within Shopify ecosystems.

Client Ownership & Strategy:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of Shopify clients.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's business, customers, and goals.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve conversion, revenue, and user experience.
  • Translate business objectives into a clear, prioritized Shopify roadmap.
CRO & Performance Optimization:
  • Analyze store performance using Shopify Analytics, GA4, and other tools.
  • Identify conversion bottlenecks and optimization opportunities across the funnel.
  • Propose and prioritize CRO initiatives and experiments.
  • Track results and clearly communicate impact to clients.
UX/UI Collaboration
  • Work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure designs are conversion-focused and Shopify-friendly.
  • Provide feedback grounded in usability, performance, and business impact.
  • Maintain a high bar for visual quality and user experience.
SEO & Shopify Best Practices:
  • Ensure Shopify stores follow SEO and performance best practices.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to embed SEO into UX and technical decisions.
  • Make smart use of Shopify features, themes, and apps to maximize value.
Delivery & Team Coordination:
  • Plan and manage the workload of Shopify developers.
  • Break initiatives into clear, actionable tasks and priorities.
  • Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery across all client work.
  • Act as a quality gate before work reaches clients.
Account Growth & Business Development:
  • Identify upsell and expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Help scope new initiatives and support sales conversations when needed.
  • Strengthen long-term client relationships by delivering consistent value.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in e-commerce, ideally with a strong Shopify focus.
  • Proven experience improving conversion rates and online store performance.
  • Deep understanding of Shopify (admin, themes, apps ecosystem).
  • Strong knowledge of CRO, UX/UI principles, and SEO fundamentals.
  • Experience working closely with developers and designers.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.
Nice to have:
  • Experience in an agency or consulting environment
  • Shopify Plus experience
  • Familiarity with tools like Hotjar, Klaviyo, and A/B testing platforms
  • Experience supporting sales or account growth
