EARTHWORK SUPERINTENDENT
LOCATION: OH, WV, PA
JOB PURPOSE
The Earthwork Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project. This position will provide on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. While there are specific responsibilities and expectations described below, it is essential that the Earthwork Superintendent be organized, possess good judgment skills, communicate effectively, and have technical knowledge.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Estimating with production rates, manpower needs, and equipment needs at the time of bidDevelop, refine, and update the project scheduleComplete knowledge and understanding of contract drawings/specificationsUnderstand project costs and manage company assetsCreate and manage project documentationCoordinate project operations including subcontractors and material vendorsKnowledge of all regulations to ensure all aspects of the project are compliantProvide leadership and maintain effective working relationships with the on-site staffEnforce Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Core valuesDevelop daily crew lists and manage field activities to ensure project completion date is metLead weekly foreman meetingPlan and develop two-week forecast to proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutionsMaintain regulatory compliance for projectsAbility to interface and maintain good relationship with ownersRegular travel to jobs in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ExperienceCivil Engineering or construction-related degree preferred with no less than 10 years of progressive responsibility supervising Earthwork-focused construction projectsExperience10+ years of Mass Excavation/Heavy Civil Site Development experienceRequirements/CompetenciesAbility to meet deadlines and driven to closureAbility to read construction drawings and understand specificationsAbility to read and interpret Mass Excavation diagrams and formulate efficient earthmoving operationsLeadership and management skills, including the ability to make decisions with integrityExperience dealing with subcontractors and vendorsExcellent written & verbal skills, attention to detailProactive, self-motivating, problem solverMust be willing to travel and work away from home when requiredAbility to plan and develop project scheduleAbility to understand direct costs of projectBasic computer literacy including the ability to use computer-related processes
