Job Description
A school district in Aurora, IL is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in both full-time and part-time roles. This contract position for the current school year (CSY) offers opportunities for interpreters who are dedicated to enhancing communication access and fostering inclusive educational environments.
Key Qualifications:
- Must hold a minimum of a 3.5 GPA or higher with current ISBE certification, or a 3.0 GPA with ISBE approval
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational settings
- Experience working within K-12 schools preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teachers, students, and families

- Position is based in Aurora, IL, with potential responsibilities in Burlington, IL
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation to support students learning and social interaction
- Facilitate effective communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students, educators, and support staff
- Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the varied needs of students across grade levels
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions
Schedule:
- Full-time and part-time options available
- Part-time role requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week
