Educational Interpreter - Naperville, IL

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support a student with deafness and additional visual impairment in an elementary school setting. This 1:1 interpreting role requires collaboration with the educational team to develop and implement strategies that enhance the students visual access and support her language development. The student is relatively new to American Sign Language (ASL), so providing language modeling is a key aspect of this position.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 sign language interpreting services tailored to the individual needs of a student with deafness and visual impairment.
• Collaborate closely with the educational team to create and apply strategies that promote the students visual access and learning.
• Provide consistent language modeling to support the students acquisition and use of ASL.
• Adapt interpreting approaches to accommodate the students evolving communication skills and visual needs.
