Job Description

What to Expect Tesla is seeking a motivated engineer for research and development of electric motors. This position is critical to the development of high-performance, high efficiency and low-cost electric powertrain for Tesla's current and future electric vehicles. This person will be working with the motor research team to develop & improve the loss model, flux linkage model and control model; design & optimize electric powertrain, develop test plans and perform measurements in the dyno lab. What You'll Do Develop cohesive simulation model for 3 phase and multi-phase motor, for both finite element analysis and dynamic motor control Develop the motor fault behavior model and develop motor fault handling strategy Develop high frequency motor model to couple with drive inverter switching model Traction motor design, use our design tools to evaluate large population of motors to derive the optimal powertrain system for electric vehicles Support new motor development, collaborate across t...
