Electrical Commissioning Engineer at FORTNA

Work EnvironmentThe position operates primarily in industrial customer project sites. Safe working practices and awareness of the environment are essential.
TravelHeavy travel required (50‑75%). The role involves visiting various U.S. sites to commission, test and verify new conveyor automation systems. A remote work option is available for certain tasks.
Physical DemandsPhysical demands of the job include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and handling equipment in industrial environments.
SalaryMonthly base salary range: 56,172 – 74,865 MXN. The actual salary offered will vary based on location, level, experience, and performance.
Responsibilities- Debug various automation systems
- System and I/O checkout
- Support controls and PLC checkout
- Test system performance
- Lead teams of commissioning engineers
- Verification and validation of engineered systems to meet design and customer specifications
- Interface with clients and subcontractors and resolve problems and issues satisfactorily
- Design pre‑punched enclosures and subpanels utilizing AutoCAD
- Create and update project workbook; pre‑check electrical drawings for accuracy/completeness and UL requirements before installation and material ordering
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience in commissioningrelated field
- 1‑3 years’ experience in automation, control system design, I/O checkout
- Knowledgeable of electrical and controls engineering theories and principles
- Significant electrical aptitude and knowledge of acceptable practices, techniques, and codes
- Experience with VFDs (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider) is a plus
- PLC experience (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley: ControlLogix & CompactLogix, Modicon, Siemens S7) is a plus
- HMI experience (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC) is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office suite, and MS Project
- Ability to work with experienced, multidisciplinary, technical specialists
- Ability to coordinate small to large projects and teams independently and make quality decisions
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems for industrial applications
- Skilled with AutoCAD and design of electrical panels, creating electrical drawings and schematics
