Job Title: Electrical Design EngineerJob DescriptionThe Electrical Design Engineer will work under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor to design electrical systems, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and project management professionals. The role involves ensuring the engineering department's methods and practices are current, providing training, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance. The engineer will adapt global technologies for North American applications while adhering to relevant standards and improving the quality and reliability of systems.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and prepare electrical designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, and specifications.Create and maintain electrical schematics and support drawings using EPLAN and AutoCAD electrical software.Consult with various departments and make necessary changes to electrical drawings.Ensure equipment design integrity meets functional design requirements using standard engineering practices.Apply expert knowledge of North American codes and standards to assess and modify global designs.Integrate safety concepts into equipment design, addressing both human and machine safety.Create and maintain safety validation documentation, including SISTEMA files.Lead quality checks of completed designs and provide technical guidance to team members.Develop engineering department technical guidelines, documentation, and standards.Create project estimates detailing material costs and design hours.Maintain engineering drawing packages and support documentation.Maintain budget and schedule commitments during the design cycle.Research and justify product choices for electrical parts and submit purchase orders.Attend project meetings to gain knowledge on specifications and provide estimates.Essential SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD, 3-phase wiring schematics, with 4 years of experience (including 2 years as an electrical design engineer).Experience with UL 508a standards.Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN or SolidWorks.Ability to perform design calculations.Experience in automation design for material handling.Understanding of safety standards.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent education and experience.Minimum of ten years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer in industrial/engineering/automation environments.Ability to perform engineering calculations in various units and conduct rate analyses.Proficiency in conveying complex findings through graphs or visualizations.Work EnvironmentThe position requires up to 20% travel, both domestic and international, for layout confirmation and equipment inspection. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. The work environment is collaborative, with a focus on meeting deadlines and responsibilities. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $92000.00/yr.
