Electrical Design Engineer - Water Projects

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of water infrastructure projects across our clients mining operations.

Start Date: February 2026
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Rate: $65 - $85 per hour
Location: Perth (occasional site visits)

The Role

You will deliver detailed electrical designs for water infrastructure including pump stations, borefields, and transfer systems, ensuring all work is compliant with Australian standards.

Working closely with Project Managers, engineers, vendors, and site teams, you will provide technical input across design, procurement, and testing activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical design deliverables including GAs, SLDs, termination diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment specifications
  • Perform electrical calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection
  • Provide technical advice to Project Managers and stakeholders
  • Support procurement and assess vendor proposals
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Attend factory acceptance tests and occasional site visits
  • Communicate design progress, risks, and changes clearly

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Engineers Australia recognised)
  • 3-5 years' experience in an electrical design role
  • Experience designing electrical systems for pump stations, borefields, and transfer systems
  • Strong understanding of Australian standards and safety-in-design practices
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Desirable: HV systems, earthing design, instrumentation and controls, commissioning experience, and mine site exposure.
