The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an Electrical Construction Engineer to join our Mining Client in Cochrane, ON for a 1 year contract. The Electrical Engineer is to work a 4/3 schedule Mondays to Thursdays. Note : Travel days are paid at a minimum of 10 hours/per day, maximum of 13 hours/day and at a reduced hourly rate. While on site housing and food will be provided to Electrical Engineer at no cost, it will not be included as part of the renumeration

Responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to all construction health, safety, security and environmental policies and comply with all applicable legal regulations.
• Assist the Capital Projects Manager/Senior Project Engineering Lead with the execution of the capital projects (engineering, procurement with prime focus on construction)
• Support the Engineering Lead and Discipline Leads in managing engineering firms to complete detailed engineering for projects.
• Participate in constructability and design reviews including drawings, project instructions and specifications.
• Provide construction technical expertise for projects including input and support to the construction team and recommend corrective action when required during execution.
• Support the development of project estimates, preparation and submission of Application for Expenditures (AFEs);
• Collaborate with the procurement group to execute scopes of work, tenders, technical bid evaluations and assist with general contracts management.
• Identify critical issues within the project (i.e. project risks and opportunities) that could impact project baselines and develop action plan to mitigate them
• Share and implement best engineering, construction practices and process improvements
• Support the development of project schedules.
• In collaboration with the Projects Cost Controller, manage project costs, review actuals to date provide forecasts, cost deviation and recommend remedial actions to stay on budget;

Requirements:

• Must be fluently bilingual in French/English- spoken and written
• Previous mining industry experience working with Capital Projects.
• Professional Electrical Engineering designation- P.Eng
