An established manufacturing organisation is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to deliver electrical and automation projects within a live production environment. This role combines hands-on electrical and PLC expertise with strong project delivery capability, supporting operational reliability while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The Role

You will manage end-to-end electrical and automation projects, working closely with Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams to minimise downtime and ensure seamless execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage electrical and automation projects from concept through to commissioning and handover
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with site standards, Australian Standards, and HSE requirements
  • Lead commissioning activities and provide technical support during start-up
  • Provide hands-on support with PLC maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation
  • Support upgrades, modifications, and obsolescence management of electrical and automation systems
  • Plan and coordinate shutdowns, outages, and critical path activities
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and constraints to stakeholders

About You

  • Degree or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong project management experience delivering electrical and automation projects
  • Hands-on experience with PLC systems
  • Strong scheduling, planning, and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, compliance, and risk management
  • Experience in chemical, process, or heavy manufacturing environments (highly regarded)
  • Exposure to DCS, SCADA, or advanced automation systems (desirable)
