Job Description
About the role
Join the team delivering one of Australia’s most unique and innovative renewable energy projects. Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro is the first project of its kind in Australia in nearly 50 years, transforming a former gold mine into a large-scale underground pumped hydro power station.
The project is being delivered as a joint venture between MCD and John Holland, with the full work being self-performed, offering engineers rare exposure to hands-on construction, installation and commissioning across complex infrastructure.
Working a 14/7 FIFO roster, you will coordinate site works, support contractors and trades, and ensure electrical installations meet design, safety, and Australian Standards.
Key responsibilities
- Support the supervision and coordination of electrical installation works across site.
- Assist with installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems including cabling, switchgear, generators, lighting and SCADA.
- Ensure works comply with designs, Australian Standards (AS3000, AS3008, AS2067, S009) and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, progress updates and basic QA documentation.
- Work closely with Project Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors to resolve day-to-day site issues.
About you
You are a hands-on Electrical Site Engineer who enjoys being in the field and working through complex construction challenges. You communicate clearly, take ownership of your scope, and bring a proactive approach to safety, quality, and problem-solving.
You are motivated by projects that are technically interesting, innovative, and genuinely different — not repeat builds.
What will you bring?
- An Australian recognised degree in Electrical Engineering.
- White card and current Australian driver’s licence.
- Experience supporting electrical installation and commissioning works on major projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical standards, construction methodologies and site safety.
- Familiarity with underground or heavy infrastructure projects (highly regarded).
What is in it for you?
- 20% site allowance plus night shift loading where applicable.
- FIFO 14/7 roster with accommodation, meals and travel provided.
- Hands-on experience on a once-in-a-generation renewable energy project.
- Supportive, high-performing project team with real career development.
- A company that values your individuality and invests in your future.
