Electrical Trainer
Are you an experienced electrical trade professional with a passion for mentoring and developing others? Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships is seeking an Electrical Trainer to join our team, embedded with a major host employer in the oil & gas sector.
This is a site-based, practical role where you'll support and guide Electrical and Instrumentation apprentices in a live operational environment.
The role is open to FIFO candidates flying from Perth to Karratha, as well as local Karratha residents who are keen to work residentially.
The role involves approximately 80 days per year on site, offering a great balance of meaningful work and lifestyle flexibility.
About the role
You'll work closely with apprentices, site supervisors, TAFE providers and Programmed stakeholders to deliver high-quality training and assessment in a real-world setting. The focus is on building practical competence, reinforcing strong safety behaviours, and supporting apprentices to become confident, job-ready tradespeople.
In this role you will:
- Supporting and mentoring Electrical and Instrumentation apprentices on site
- Delivering and assessing training in line with the relevant Training Package
- Conducting workplace observations and structured competency assessments
- Providing clear, constructive coaching and feedback
- Maintaining accurate and compliant training and assessment records
- Working collaboratively with site supervisors, TAFE partners and Programmed advisors
- Demonstrating and promoting strong safety leadership and compliance
About you
You're approachable, grounded and comfortable working in the field. You enjoy developing people, value safety, and can engage confidently with apprentices, supervisors and stakeholders alike.
You will bring:
- Electrical trade qualification (essential)
- Instrumentation qualification (desirable, not essential)
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent)
- Experience training, mentoring or supporting apprentices
- A strong safety and compliance mindset
- Clear communication skills and a supportive coaching style
- Ability to work FIFO from Perth or residentially in Karratha (housing is not provided)
