Job Opening: Cockpit DRE (Design & Release Engineer)
Location: Toluca, Mexico

Responsibilities
- Act as the Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) for cockpit systems, including instrument panel, center console, HMI, displays, switches, and trim components
- Own the complete product lifecycle from concept, design, development, validation, to production launch
- Translate customer and system requirements into technical specifications and design solutions
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (CAE, manufacturing, suppliers, quality, testing, program management)
- Manage supplier interactions , technical reviews, and design deliverables
- Lead design reviews , DFMEA, tolerance stack-up, and change management activities
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards (GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP)
- Support prototype builds, validation testing , and issue resolution during development and production
- Track technical risks, cost, weight, and quality targets throughout the program
- Drive continuous improvement and adherence to OEM processes and timelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of automotive cockpit architecture and components
- Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA V5 / NX / Creo)
- Good understanding of plastic parts design , tooling, and manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, tolerance analysis
- Experience working with Tier-1 suppliers and OEMs
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Senior Interior Design Engineer — role overview
We are looking for a Senior Interior Design Engineer to lead the development of plastic components for automotive interior and exterior systems. In this role, you will drive high-quality mechanical design using Siemens NX (3D/2D), creating assemblies, detailed drawings with GD&T , and ensuring manufacturability through strong DFM application and knowledge of plastic materials and injection molding processes.
You will support the full design cycle from concept to documentation, bringing a proactive mindset, strong technical judgment, and teamwork skills. You will also guide and validate Jr. Engineers’ work , ensuring accuracy, compliance, and first-pass quality.
Activities
- Leading interior design activities with minimal supervision.
- Reviewing Jr. engineers’ outputs and design hours.
- Providing input during design reviews and managing change-control tools.
- Coordinating with suppliers to optimize manufacturability and cost.
- Participating in PDTs with GM Design Leaders (DLT) and Design Release Engineers (DRE) .
- Contributing to Vehicle Compartment Integration Team (CIT) reviews.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.
- Strong experience in plastic component design (interior & exterior).
- Proficiency with Siemens NX for 3D modeling, 2D drawings, and assemblies.
- Knowledge of materials, injection molding, and technical specifications.
