Working as a Design Release Engineer (DRE) can provide one with a great foundation of leadership skills. The DRE is responsible for definition of requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, testing and management of engineering projects for Electronic Control Modules where

creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved.

The Components/modules you could work on in this group vary based on experience but could be in one of the following:

Body/Interior Controls HW, Engine & High Voltage Mechatronic H/W, Passive Safety, Advanced Forward Lighting and Seat Control Electronics Hardware, Chassis & Sensor Hardware, Vehicle Access Controls Hardware, Vehicle Sensing Hardware, Chassis, Fuel, Driveline, Transmission MHW, Wiring Harnesses or Switches.
