HR Legal Counsel / Employment Contracts Specialist

Role Overview

The HR Legal Counsel will support the HR and business teams by drafting, reviewing, and managing employment-related legal documentation across multiple jurisdictions. The role focuses on ensuring employment contracts, HR policies, and practices are legally compliant, consistent, and aligned with local labor laws and global company standards.


Key Responsibilities

Employment Contract Drafting & Management

  • Draft, review, and update employment contracts, offer letters, amendments, and separation agreements for employees across multiple countries.
  • Customize global employment contract templates to ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
  • Ensure consistency of key employment terms while balancing jurisdiction-specific legal requirements.

Global Employment Law Guidance

  • Provide day-to-day legal guidance to HR teams on employment law matters across regions (APAC, EMEA, Americas, etc.).
  • Advise on hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, notice periods, severance, and employee benefits from a legal risk perspective.
  • Monitor changes in labor and employment laws and proactively recommend updates to contracts and policies.

HR Policy & Compliance Support

  • Review and support development of HR policies, employee handbooks, codes of conduct, and workplace guidelines.
  • Ensure HR policies align with local laws and global best practices.
  • Support compliance with statutory filings, disclosures, and employment-related audits.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong drafting and contract interpretation skills
  • Working knowledge of global employment and labor laws
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical HR guidance
  • Ability to manage multiple jurisdictions and priorities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Law degree (LLB or equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • 3 –6 years of experience in employment law, HR legal, or in-house legal roles
  • Prior experience handling employment contracts across multiple geographies

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Head of Legal / General Counsel / Head of HR Legal
  • Works closely with: HR, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Compliance, and External Counsel
