Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of our proprietary ZincGel battery energy storage systems (BESS). The role requires end-to-end expertise – from cell-level design to integration, field deployment, and lifecycle management. The candidate will drive system architecture, identify and collaborate with subsystem providers, and ensure robust performance in both low-voltage and high-voltage applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full-stack design of ESS: from pack design, enclosure, safety systems, and field deployment.
- Architect both low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) battery systems for stationary applications.
- Define and validate specifications for battery packs, power electronics, protection systems, and communication interfaces.
- Evaluate and select subsystem providers (BMS, inverter, EMS, thermal, safety, control) ensuring interoperability and reliability.
- Develop and validate models and algorithms for State of Health (SoH) and State of Charge (SoC) determination.
- Lead prototyping, testing, and certification of systems to meet relevant safety and performance standards (IEC, UL, grid codes).
- Collaborate with manufacturing and field teams for seamless scaling, deployment, and maintenance.
- Stay updated with the latest in cell chemistries, power electronics, and ESS integration trends.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in designing and deploying ESS from cell to system level.
- Proven experience working with both low-voltage (<100V) and high-voltage (>400V) systems.
- Strong expertise in system engineering BMS/EMS integration, protection strategies, and communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of inverter integration, grid interconnection requirements, and thermal management systems.
- Solid grasp of battery modeling, SoC/SoH estimation methods, and performance testing.
- Demonstrated ability to source and manage third-party subsystem providers.
- Familiarity with safety, compliance, and certification standards for ESS.
- Strong problem-solving, system-level thinking, and hands-on prototyping skills.
Preferred
- Experience with renewable integration, microgrids.
- Exposure to zinc-based, flow batteries, or alternative chemistries beyond Li-ion.
- Track record of taking products from R&D to field deployment at scale.
Selection process
- Due to large number of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further screening test, assignment - followed by an interaction.
