Position Description: About the job
Company Overview
Ameritex is a fast-growing metal fabrication company specializing in generator enclosures, industrial electrical enclosures, structural weldments, and turnkey fabricated assemblies. We support customers in power generation, infrastructure, oil and gas, and industrial markets, and we pride ourselves on speed, quality, and innovation.

Position Summary
Ameritex is seeking an Engineer to support the design, programming, and production of precision fabricated assemblies. This position requires strong knowledge of 2D CAD and CAM systems used to generate flat patterns, part programs, and fabrication drawings for advanced manufacturing equipment including lasers, tube lasers, punch presses, and press brakes.
The Engineer works closely with production, project management, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-efficient, and fully compatible with Ameritexs automated fabrication equipment and ERP systems.

Responsibilities
  • Create and revise detailed 2D CAD drawings and flat layouts in AutoCAD (Or similar) and related software
  • Develop 3D models, sheet-metal designs, and assemblies in SolidWorks when required
  • Generate and edit flat patterns, nesting layouts, and part programs for laser, tube laser, and punch press machines using CAD/CAM software (Lantek, CADMAN, or similar)
  • Program press brakes and other forming equipment directly from CAD data to ensure dimensional accuracy and manufacturability
  • Produce fabrication drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), bend notes, and weld details for production release
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and material optimization principles to improve production speed and reduce waste
  • Integrate CAD/CAM data with Fulcrum ERP and other enterprise systems for material planning, job tracking, and revision control
  • Collaborate with shop personnel and programmers to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and improve part flow through automated equipment
  • Maintain organized design data using SolidWorks PDM and ensure all revision and release processes are followed
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for automation, file management, and machine programming standardization
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Manufacturing, or related discipline)
  • 2+ years of experience in CAD/CAM design or manufacturing engineering
  • Strong proficiency in 2D CAD drafting (AutoCAD required) and familiarity with 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes including laser cutting, tube cutting, bending, welding, and hardware installation
  • Experience or willingness to train in programming laser and press-brake equipment
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for BOM and routing creation
  • Strong understanding of DFM principles and material utilization
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Lantek, CADMAN, or similar CAD/CAM programming suites
  • Exposure to automated fabrication and Industry 4.0 integration (data-driven production workflows)
  • Understanding of electrical or mechanical enclosure design and related standards (NEMA, UL, NEC)
  • Experience using SolidWorks PDM for file control and workflow management
  • Familiarity with sound attenuation, cooling design, or enclosure ventilation principles
Soft Skills / Culture Fit
  • Precise, detail-oriented, and accountable
  • Clear communicator with the ability to coordinate between engineering and production teams
  • Self-motivated and proactive in improving systems and processes
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment
  • Team-oriented with a focus on delivering results and supporting production needs
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health insurance, paid time off, and paid holidays
  • Career growth in a rapidly scaling fabrication environment
  • Opportunity to help shape Ameritexs CAD/CAM automation and design-for-manufacturing standards
