We in the IP Engineering group work on delivering end-to-end IP from the specification, design, verification to validating it on our FPGA platforms.

The IP Engineering group (Microchip FPGA BU) is responsible for delivering the Soft IP’s as part of the FPGA ecosystem and is available through Libero software. The huge set of catalog IP’s enables the customers to build complex optimal designs, reducing the total risk and increasing the time to market in areas such as high-speed serial protocols, DSP, memory controllers, PHY IP’s, avionics, bridges, areas of functional safety for our Microchip FPGA products.

About the Position

This position is an excellent opportunity for someone willing to work on the latest technologies and play a critical role in providing a roadmap for IP and IP solutions. This is a hands-on technical contributor role that will allow the right candidate to develop their engineering skills and participate in varied, interesting and challenging development projects. The role of Validation Engineer will involve a deep understanding of the FPGA architecture, protocols, boards while getting an opportunity to work with the latest tools and technologies.

Seeking for highly motivated and passionate individual to work with an expert team of technical lead engineers & architects responsible for development from architecture, specifications to the entire FPGA design cycle.

Job Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India

The successful candidate will be a member of the IP Engineering group in Microchip Hyderabad, India and reports to the IP Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Create System and FPGA designs to exercise all the use models targeted for each IP mimicking end applications in a customer setting
  • Write system and IP level validation plans; execute per plan, record and communicate results
  • Understanding spec., writing validation plan and executing per plan. Record and communicate results
  • Understand hardware architectures, use models and system level design implementations required to utilize the IP features at IP and system level
  • Be an effective contributor in a cross-functional team-oriented environment.
  • Write high quality code in Verilog, VHDL and C code for embedded processors. 
  • Learn new system designs and validation methodologies. Understand FPGA architectures
  • Be conversant with on-chip debug tools

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    Qualifications

  • BSEE/ MS/ MTech. under Electronics or Electronics/ Telecommunications Engineering department
  • 4+ years relevant Validation on IP/SoC experience
  • Required Skills

  • Minimum requirements: BE or Masters degree with 4+ yrs of experience
  • A demonstrable track record of Validation both at the block and system level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • History of working to defined processes and procedures
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills and independent problem-solving ability
  • Design with RTL coding in Verilog/ VHDL and Verification of RTL
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of hardware architectures, system level IC design implementation, knowledge of how to create end use scenarios
  • Experience using Simulation (ModelSim/ Questa) and Synthesis (Synplicity) tools
  • Basic knowledge of embedded processors such as ARM Cortex-M3 or RISC and familiarity with AMBA protocols APB, AHB, AXI, ACE
  • Working knowledge on embedded software C/C++ is also a plus
  • Good knowledge of embedded processors and peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, PCI and USB
  • Knowledge of high-speed memory interfaces is a plus such as QDRII+Extreme, DDR4/3, LPDDR3 etc.
  • Strong technical background in FPGA prototype emulation, and debug, failure analysis
  • Excellent Board level debug capabilities in lab environment: hands-on troubleshooting skills for digital logic and analog circuit on PCB’s using oscilloscopes, digital analyzers, protocol exercisers and analyzers, integrated logic analyzers (e.g. Synopsys Idenitfy, Xilinx Chipscope, Altera Signalscope, Lattice Reveal
  • Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with at least two of the following high-speed serial communications protocols:PCIe Gen1/2/3Interlaken (10.3125 Gbps)CPRI (614.4Mbps – 12.672 Gbps)SGMII or QSGMIIXAUI or HiGig/+/IITSE, 10GBASE-R/-KRSerial Rapid IOSerial Digital Interfaces SDI-SD/HD/3GHDOTNXGPONUSB 3.0
  • Advantageous Characteristics: 

  • Experience designing solutions with Microchip FPGAs
  • Knowledge of processor based systems
  • C, C++ or object-oriented programming skills is big plus
  • Knowledge and experience in embedded firmware development is big plus
  • Good understanding of embedded firmware/software development process is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in JTAG, SVF and 1532 standards and STAPL programming is a plus
  • Knowledge of PERL/TCL scripting is a plus
  • Knowledge in the bring-up of embedded Linux
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
