We are looking for an Engineering Leader (Internal Job Title is Brewing Engineer) to lead our Brewing Department Engineering team. This is a Permanent Full-Time position based at our Tooheys Brewery in Lidcombe.
About This Role:
Reporting to the Head Brewer, you’ll own the execution of the Brewing Maintenance Plan and drive world‑class asset performance across a high‑speed FMCG environment. Leading a team of specialists, you’ll build deep technical capability, embed best‑practice maintenance, and deliver step‑change improvements in safety, quality, reliability and cost.
This role is about technical mastery, people leadership and performance - shaping how engineering is done in Brewing.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
Safety first, always
- Set the safety standard through visible leadership and Lion’s Safety Management System
Performance & reliability
- Own maintenance execution and KPIs for the Brewing Department
- Drive equipment reliability, system integrity and continuous improvement
- Lead and develop Brewing trades and apprentices, building deep asset expertise
- Partner with Team Leaders and Improvement Engineers to lift problem‑solving and operator capability
- Own the Brewing maintenance budget and 3‑year capital plan
- Lead OEM and supplier performance (e.g. GEA, Huppmann)
Improvement & systems
- Embed TPM, KATA and Lion Way best practices
- Optimise asset performance to improve throughput, quality and waste (MTTR, MTBF)
Leadership
- Build a high‑performing, engaged engineering team that’s proud of what it delivers
- Role model Lion behaviours and create a strong performance and growth culture
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Engineering qualification (Diploma minimum; degree preferred)
- Strong brewing maintenance and reliability expertise in high‑speed FMCG
- 5+ years’ experience leading engineering or maintenance teams
- Lean, CI and strong problem‑solving capability
- A track record of delivering results — safely and sustainably
