About the Role

Tronox is seeking a technically strong and delivery-focused Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activities across both the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) and Execution phases of a major Rare Earths project in Western Australia.

This role is responsible for managing the Owner’s Engineering Team and coordinating the Engineering Service Provider (ESP), ensuring that engineering deliverables are technically sound, constructible, and aligned with project objectives. You will oversee the development and integration of multidisciplinary design outputs, manage technical standards and specifications, and ensure engineering maturity supports investment decisions and execution readiness.

During DFS, you will lead the definition and delivery of engineering work packs, coordinate discipline leads, and ensure that study deliverables are scoped, sequenced, and tracked effectively. You will also manage the interface with the ESP, ensuring alignment of scope, quality, and schedule, while supporting procurement and early works planning.

In Execution, you will transition into a delivery-focused leadership role, overseeing detailed design completion, field engineering support, and commissioning interface. You will ensure that engineering decisions support safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery, while maintaining technical integrity and compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.

This position reports to the Project Director and is a pivotal role in ensuring the project’s success.

Initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract for the DFS phase, this role is designed to become permanent once the project achieves FID and moves into Execution.

This role will initially be based at our Kwinana Pigment Plant , located approximately 35 minutes south of Perth . Once set-up activities are complete, the position will transition to our Fremantle office expected to happen end of Q1 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee development and integration of detailed design deliverables across disciplines.
  • Ensure constructability, compliance with specifications, and alignment with execution milestones.
  • Govern the application of technical standards and specifications.

ESP & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison with the Engineering Service Provider (ESP) for all technical matters including deliverables, scope, schedule, and technical queries.
  • Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless integration across workstreams.

Execution Support

  • Provide field engineering support during construction and commissioning.
  • Interface with commissioning teams to ensure systems meet operational requirements.

Governance & Reporting

  • Implement engineering quality assurance processes and manage technical risks and design changes.
  • Maintain engineering schedules and resource plans in coordination with project controls.
  • Deliver clear, impactful engineering updates to support project reviews and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee preparation and handover of engineering documentation for commissioning and operations.

About You

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering (preferably chemical or mechanical) or a similar technical background.
  • Extensive experience as an Engineering Manager leading multidisciplinary teams through studies, detailed design, construction, and commissioning—ideally from the client side.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong capability in managing Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) and coordinating complex design deliverables.
  • Skilled in applying and governing technical standards and specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentational communication abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, risk management, and integration across project workstreams.
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic project environments and managing transitions between study and execution phases.
