Due to aggressive growth, they are currently in search of an Engineering Manager whose primary focus is to achieve and maintain manufacturing world class processes related to safety standards, process and product quality controls, productivity, and efficiencies.


THE POSITION


The Engineering Manager is responsible for Process Engineering team for the Backplanes Business Group and accountable for implementing a world class processes control mindset and standards supporting the site and business units’ success. Ensure strategic plans are in place to support process capability and capacity and technical structure perspective. Driving a culture of continuous improvement in all facets of the operation is necessary for success. As the business ramps to over $160M in revenue and 1,500+ employees, the Engineering Manager will be instilling a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. This is a rare opportunity for a hands-on and visionary engineering leader to leave a legacy in a fast-paced, transformational setting.


Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Process Engineering department, in a 7-day 24 hour per week operation
  • Liaison with corporate Engineering to ensure Group strategic initiatives are deployed in our Plant in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensures safety elements are deployed into manufacturing processes including JSA, Ergonomic Assessment, Equipment Risk Assessment.
  • Manufacturing documents deployment and controls, such as work instructions, process deviations
  • Coordinate and deploy engineering change management effectively.
  • Exercise diligent Management of Change on new process and equipment introduction (including layout and plant footprint changes due to manufacturing process needs)
  •  Liaison with group engineering and quality departments on NPI’s (receive process).
  • Determining and implementing world class quality control mindset and standards (Control Plan, FMEA, Error proofing)
  • Strong drive towards continuous improvement on FPY, RTY, Scrap through lean methodologies ( Kaizen, root cause analysis) and management (trend, pareto, actions).
  • Identify productivity opportunities on cycle time improvements, process balancing and equipment/resource utilization.
  • Identify and lead cost-down projects related to manufacturing process and equipment reliability expenses.
  • Identify opportunities for new technology to drive process capability, as well as operational cost improvements.
  • Ensure engineering adherence on established operating systems and standard work for process enablers such as Tier meetings, RCCP, S&OP, Quality Audits, Safety Gemba’s and Operational reviews, financial and cost reviews.
  • CAPEX Management in compliance with our finance standards.
  • Provides leadership and talent development to junior staff including establishing objectives, setting goals, and managing accountability for attaining deliverables.

  • THE CANDIDATE


    Key Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

  • +5 years’ experience in electronic manufacturing as Engineering Manager, experience in cable assembly is preferred.
  • Experience in automatic equipment and automated processes is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in leading troubleshooting efforts, analytical problem solving, and implementing effective process controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and experience with statistical software, such as JMP, for process optimization.
  • Strong experience in project management and NPI.
  • Experience in manufacturing lean transformation in a high volume and high mix manufacturing environment. Ideal candidate will have a Lean expert curriculum.
  • Proven ability to lead a team to achieve stretch goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities including people development. A proven ability to lead diverse engineering teams and collaborate effectively with senior management and external partners.
  • Ability to provide positive direction by encouraging peers and direct report teams to have a commitment to high standards of quality and performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects successfully
  • The candidate must be energetic, fast paced, results oriented. Someone who thrives in high pressure, fast paced environments where things need to get done.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of proficiency in English (written and spoken) for effective business communication both written and verbal. Fluent in Spanish.
  • BS Degree in Industrial, Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic, Mechanical Engineering or similar is highly preferred. Extensive professional experience in a leadership capacity within the field may be considered as a substitute for specific educational qualifications.
  • Able to travel internationally at least 10% of time. Valid U.S. Visa.
