THE ROLE:

ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Permitting Specialist with demonstrated experience permitting capital projects in France to join our team in Paris or Lyon.

The environmental permitting expert's main responsibilities and tasks will be to:

-Serve as Technical Advisor for French permitting-related activities in support of ERM clients’ capital projects (e.g, projects in the renewable energy sector, or data center, linear infrastructure, H2, CCUS). Lead the strategic planning and preparation of permit packages, serving in roles ranging from subject matter expert to QA/QC.

-Manage large, complex capital development projects to achieve client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.

-Manage or coordinate small or medium size projects or elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects.

-Lead the Environmental aspects of projects, including Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Environmental Management Plans or Systems and post monitoring projects.

-Perform on site audit/assessment to support ESDD, ESIA and other impact assessment and monitoring projects.

-Contribute to business development of ERM’s full range of Impact Assessment and Permitting (IAP) services. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.

-Conduct environmental field work and help to supervise the subcontractors to do the work compliance and safely.

-Supervise project team(s), coordinating workload and mentoring more junior practitioners.

Your ideal background:

- 5-10 years of experience working in environmental permitting either in a consulting company or within industry.

-Technical expertise leading environmental permitting efforts in France, providing support for the development of large-scale capital expansion projects

-Possess comprehensive understanding of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) in line with national and ideally international requirements of Lender institutions.

-Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the French regulatory context, having worked with regulatory authorities such as DREAL or DDTM.

-Fluency in both French and English

-Renewable energy permitting experience would be a plus but not a requirement.

-Expertise with ICPE and IOTA is also a plus but not a requirement.
