Key Process & Technical Knowledge

The Senior SAP CPI Consultant should have expertise in:

  • Integration Patterns – A2A, B2B, B2G, Hybrid integrations.

  • SAP CPI (Cloud Integration) – iFlow design, mappings, adapters, error handling.

  • API Management – API provisioning, consumption, security, traffic management.

  • Pre-packaged Content – Usage and extension of SAP-delivered integration content.

  • Adapters & Connectivity – IDoc, RFC, SOAP, REST, OData, SFTP, JDBC, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, etc.

  • Integration Advisor (IAE) – For message mappings and standardization.

  • Security & Compliance – Certificates, OAuth, SAML, PGP encryption, GDPR readiness.

  • Monitoring & Operations – CPI monitoring tools, alerting, error resolution.

  • Best Practices – Enterprise Integration patterns, reusable artifacts, naming conventions.

  • Hybrid Integration – Connecting on-prem (SAP PI/PO, ECC, S/4HANA) with cloud solutions.

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end integration flows using SAP CPI.

  • Extend and configure standard integration packages provided by SAP.

  • Collaborate with functional teams to analyze integration requirements.

  • Develop custom iFlows, mappings, and error-handling frameworks.

  • Ensure data security and compliance in integration processes.

  • Integrate SAP S/4HANA with cloud applications (SF, Ariba, Concur, etc.) and 3rd-party systems.

  • Implement API management solutions to expose and secure enterprise APIs.

  • Perform unit testing, regression testing, and performance testing of integrations.

  • Work with Basis team for connectivity setup, certificates, and system access.

  • Document integration designs, mappings, and operational manuals.

  • Provide L3 support for incidents, problem resolution, and enhancements.

  • Mentor junior integration consultants and enforce best practices and governance.

  • Stay current with SAP BTP integration roadmap, new adapters, and capabilities.

    • Required Qualifications & Skills

    Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • SAP Certified Development Associate – SAP Integration Suite (preferred).

    • Experience

  • 7–10 years of experience in SAP Integration (CPI/PI/PO).

  • At least 3+ years of hands-on CPI experience with complex integrations.

  • Proven expertise in 2+ full-cycle S/4HANA implementations involving CPI.

    • Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of CPI iFlows, mappings, Groovy scripts, XSLT.

  • Proficiency in cloud connectivity, security protocols, and authentication mechanisms.

  • Familiarity with SAP BTP services (Event Mesh, API Hub, IAS).

  • Good understanding of functional processes in Finance, Procurement, HR, and Logistics for integration mapping.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to mentor junior consultants and enforce standards.

  • Proactive approach with a focus on quality and reusability.
