Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain public Story Map through as needed service and metadata updates and general user/application support.

  • Implement data quality control procedures and create reports summarizing quality, issues, and proposed resolution. Prepare data for publishing in multiple formats, such as services or layer packages, internally and externally. Assist with the publication of data and metadata to internal and external data portals for use in the fire and resource programs.

  • Review, create and maintain metadata to client specifications for datasets and services. 

  • Work with data stewards and data administrator to define user requirements and implement projects though deriving data requirements, configuring applications, and creating documentation.

  • Support geospatial staff in creation of geospatial databases and manage geodatabases in an enterprise environment including providing support to update and maintain client’s fire and natural resources data.

  • Acquire data from multiple internal and external sources and formats to integrate into a geospatial dataset including navigating file directory structures, spatial data portals, and websites.

  • Develop unique and standardized cartographic products using ArcGIS Desktop. Map content will range between single subject depictions to multiple values on a single map.

  • Perform data analysis (geospatial and alpha-numeric) as requested to support the creation of reports and briefing documents related to resource and/or wildland fire program management questions.

  • Develop and run automated geoprocessing and/or analysis workflows to support requested projects.

  • Create story maps, dashboards, and/or other web applications to illustrate analysis methods and results, and provide client staff and the public with dynamic and often real- time access to data and interactive maps.

  • Skills needed: 

  • Strong in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Geoprocess, GeospatialData Engineering

  • End Citizen/User Product Generation (Product, Service, Map, Story Maps, Dashboards); 

  • Python

  • Experience in Data Analysis, Data QA/QC

  • Enjoys collaboration and makes Geo Products 

  • Past Government Experience

  • Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, GeoSciences or specific relevant subject area and minimum 5 yrs experience 

  • Previous experience supporting scientific programs, preferably government related, in earth management and sciences including marine, atmospheric, hydrological, topographic, geological, renewable, or a myriad of dozens of other critical earth sciences.

  • Able to rapidly context switch across subject matter, communication and architecture products, and stakeholder audiences.

  • Experience with remote sensing, image processing, Geospatial data editing, and Web Service Architecture.

  • Must be able to pass basic NACI, background, drug and reference checks.

  • Must be able to demonstrate fast, quality typing/coding as well as fast visual prototyping. 

  • Tool Experience in ESRI, GeoServer, OGC, Metadata Standards, and preferably newer BigData, RDF and SEO technologies.

  • Interviewing for Winter Start.
