Estimating and Pricing Specialist (Senior or Lead)

The Estimating Center of Expertise is looking for a Estimating and Pricing Specialists (Senior or Lead) to join our Independent Estimating Team at one of our major Boeing Defense sites in Hazelwood, MO, Ridley Park, PA, Mesa, AZ, Tukwila, WA, Oklahoma City, OK, or Arlington, VA. Our team is open to a broad range of experience levels including Level 4 and Level 5 Specialists to find the best fit for the position.

This challenging role support the development and maintenance of independent cost estimates for Boeing Defense, Space & Security and Boeing Global Services within the Estimating Center of Expertise (ECOE) in Finance Shared Services. The estimator provides Independent Cost Estimates (ICEs) in support of strategic proposals, Estimate at Complete (EACs) and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) to support and inform strategic decisions (bids, analyses of alternatives, etc). The role also builds, matures, and enhances our independent cost estimating database and methods while building and maintaining collaborative relationships across the ECOE and other Boeing organizations.

This role supports multiple Boeing platforms by analyzing data and modeling costs while working with Finance and Technical teams, and presenting findings to executives. Key tasks include creating data-driven estimates, performing risk analyses, building and using parametric tools (e.g., SEER, TruePlanning), developing in-house parametric models, and building and enhancing datasets. The work requires creative problem solving, statistical analysis (including multivariate regression), and clear data-driven communication.

  • Position Responsibilities:

  • Consults large cross-functional teams to understand complex Estimating requirements and processes and be able to translate them to scalable, best-in-class solutions

  • Evaluates programmatic and technical baselines to identify and quantify opportunities and risks into potential cost impacts

  • Applies statistical analysis to data sets to support the development of complex estimating methodologies (e.g., Quantity Adjustment Curves, Aged Purchase Order (PO) History, Learning Curve/Rate Curve Analysis, Parametric Analysis, Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs), etc.)

  • Conveys complex analysis and recommendations in an easily digestible format across various functions

  • Develops analytical and/or innovative solutions when datasets are limited or imperfect

  • Performs complex analysis, consults team members and leadership regarding recommendations in support of estimating and pricing methodologies, tools, and processes

  • Leads and develops complex estimates (Lead and Senior responsibility)

  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in finance, business, accounting, engineering, or a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields)

  • 5+ years of experience working with statistical methods (i.e., segmentation models, regression analysis, trend analysis, etc.)

  • 5+ years of experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry

  • 5+ years of experience using all the following Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives with cross functional teams

  • Experience building presentations and making recommendations

  • Proven experience analyzing large datasets

  • Experience with risk analysis and risk analysis software such as @RISK

  • Experience with parametric modeling and estimating (commercial tools such as SEER or TruePlanning, and/or custom models)

  • Proficiency with statistical software

  • Cost Certification: ICEAA Certification (CCEA, PCEA, SCEC), Defense Acquisition University, or other related certification

  • Secret or Top-Secret Security Clearance

  • Ability to travel up to 40%

    Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

    Summary Pay Range (Senior, Level 4): $119,000 - $161,000

    Summary Pay Range (Lead, Level 5): $ 144,500 - $195,500
