Estimator – Civil Construction

Engineering Trades Australia (ETA) is partnering with a well-established civil construction contractor delivering projects across infrastructure, resources, agriculture, defence, energy and waste sectors throughout Australia.
Due to a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team. This role will suit someone who enjoys working across the full tender lifecycle and contributing directly to winning and delivering profitable projects.

The Role

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects from early planning through to tender submission. You will work closely with project managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure all estimates are thorough, realistic and commercially sound.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse project drawings, specifications and documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates
• Complete quantity take-offs, cost analysis and pricing using industry-standard software
• Prepare full tender submissions, including labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and overheads
• Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and assess scope coverage
• Identify project risks, opportunities and value-engineering options
• Present estimates to senior management and contribute to bid reviews
• Maintain current knowledge of market rates, construction methods and industry trends

About You

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
• Previous experience as an Estimator or Contracts Administrator within civil construction or mining
• Strong understanding of tendering, procurement and commercial processes
• Experience with quantity surveying and estimating methodologies
• Confident communicator with strong negotiation and influencing skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
